Digital Resources in the Kindergarten Classroom

During the Covid-19 pandemic I found myself struggling to find classroom resources that would help my students improve their reading skills.  I was a virtual teacher for a whole year during 2020-2021.  I taught English and Spanish to my little kindergarten students.  I was the Dual language teacher and these students were either learning English for the first time or Spanish for the first time.  I struggled looking for Bilingual resources to use online on my Google meets.  So I decided to create some of my own.  And although I am back in the classroom these bilingual resources are still being used and they are helping my students reach for their goals in literacy.  Digital games became popular during the pandemic and they don’t seem like they are going away. My students all have a Chromebook now and we use them daily.  I remind my parents to charge the Chromebook every night so the students are ready to work everyday.  There are many activities you can project onto your interactive smart tv that will help your students have fun and learn.  They don’t always have to be used independently.I use digital games as a small group or with the whole class.

I used google slides to create interactive games such as listening and identifying initial sounds, counting syllables, identifying initial syllables, finding rhymes and building sight words.

I found games already made in English but struggled to find them in Spanish.  So I got creative and created ones I knew my students would benefit from.  These games are interactive and can be assigned on to google classroom.
